Joba's Yankees future in doubt

09:10 AM ET 03.24 | The Yankees like Joba Chamberlain, how hard he works and his enthusiasm for the game and, when he gets out on the mound, his talent. But if Chamberlain doesn't pitch this year, the Yankees are going to have to decide whether to even tender him a contract for his 2013 walk season or give up on the talented lightning rod. They will have a lot more information to make that decision in a few months. But immediately they know he will not be joining the bullpen any time soon or participating in the unspoken derby to be Mariano Rivera's successor. Chamberlain dislocated his ankle Thursday night. The most overt manchild on the team did so, the Yankees report, while jumping on a trampoline with his young son. General manager Brian Cashman labeled it "a significant injury."

To late for that. You can't trade anybody on the DL. They are stuck with this pant load for now.

He's too fat to be jumping on a trampoline. Cashman labled it a "brainless injury"

What would you expect to get in return for a guy who is coming off Tommy John surgery and has an open dislocation that has him on the DL, most likely for the season? You'd be lucky to get a bag of balls and a bat weight for him right now.

His biggest worry is whether he will pitch again, regardless of for who. An ankle injury to a pitcher, especially one that size could always be a problem.

Forgetaboutit. The only thing you'll get out of him is cashing in on any insurance policy you may have taken out on him, or perhaps a tax write-off.
Most pitchers never make it. Throw this one in the pile.

You'll never get a live body for him. As Mongo wrote, it's questionable he'll ever pitch again, much less be effective. He's toast.

The only difference between Jenks and Joba right now is the manifestation of their stupidity. IMO Jenks is a more worthy recipient of caustic humor.

Yeah...at least Joba was playing with his kids. Jenks could have killed someone. I would expect the Sox to try to use the morals clause to dump him pronto.
