09:00 AM ET 03.25 | It's highly unlikely Patrick Roy will end up involved with the Montreal Canadians in any capacity. What's more likely is Roy's waiting for the Phoenix Coyotes to move to Quebec, where he'll take over as either coach, general manager or both. Word is, Roy has unofficially been on retainer from Quebec NHL interests for almost two years now.

Why on Earth would they even have the slightest inkling to replace Tippet with Roy. Tippet is one of the best coaches in the league, imo. He gets more done with less than any other coach out there. And you want to replace him with Roy? Why?

And Roy doesn't strike me as one who has the personality make up to manage at the NHL level. I don't know how he would do as a GM, but I wouldn't want him as a coach.

Roy as a GM? I dont know about his skills in that regard, but he might liven up the draft by trying to beat the crap out of anyone who won't take his trade offers.

I know of a couple of real small goalies who will tel you that Patrick Roy couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.

A story, based on a city wishing they had an NHL team, written by a newspaper who wishes their own city also had an NHL team...

I don't really care what happens with Patrick Roy, but I really hope the Coyotes move to Quebec next season. I am so sick of watching these non-hockey market games where the stadiums are empty. Its great to watch a game in Winnipeg again, where the building is sold out and the fans actually give a **** about the team compared to the lame Atlanta Fanbase. I saw highlights of the first place Florida Panthers the other night play to a half empty building, and I shake my head why the NHL expanded to these cities.

Bettman needs to understand that Hockey will never be mass accepted, and should focus on the markets that love Hockey. When you have stars like Rick Nash stuck in Columbus and you can never showcase him in national TV, you need to rethink your strategy of whether 30 markets works for the sport.

There's an article around here somewhere stating that Roy's gonna be the next head coach of Montreal...after the other one is fired in the summer.

Mike Vernon for one

March 25, 2012  11:43 AM ET

Would they fire Tippett because he doesn't speak French?

Correct, I think Chris Osgood is the other. Seems those Detroit goalers don't like St. Patty.

March 25, 2012  02:57 PM ET

he couldnt even manage his own kids.

March 25, 2012  03:18 PM ET

French? yes. Good Goalie? yes. Able to coach? questionable. Classless? absolutely!!

March 25, 2012  03:20 PM ET

Roy has the ability and potential to become the NHL version of Isiah Thomas. I would love for him to screw up a franchise and seal his legacy!

March 25, 2012  05:37 PM ET

Where in Quebec would they go? Montreal already has a team.

March 25, 2012  06:55 PM ET

When did the NHL announce that the Coyotes are moving to Quebec City?
