08:15 AM ET 03.27 | After returning from a four-day trip back to St. Louis for tests, Chris Carpenter isn't all that much further along in his rehab. [Carpenter] believes he will pitch this season for the Cardinals but has no idea when a short-circuited right shoulder muscle will allow him to return. Carpenter returned to Roger Dean Stadium on Monday morning after four days of neurological testing in St. Louis. While Carpenter said doctors could not pinpoint the source of nerve irritation that has caused him weakness in the shoulder, he did indicate he would enter a program to strengthen the region before again taking the mound. "It's not working the way it should," Carpenter said. "I want it to work."

Put him on the Clemens plan (minus the roids!) ... show up in late June or July 1st fully rested and ready to go.

I'm okay with that. I'd rather they get him healthy and have him ready to go in September/October than worry about rushing him back.

The Cards have done the right thing didn't PANIC. Yes Oswalt was out there but instead of spending a lot of money on a older player they went to the farm instead.I also know they are smiling from ear to ear by not mortgage the team for number 5.
