08:17 AM ET 03.27 | Frank Martin now has South Carolina on his mind, partly, it has been reported, due to a deteriorating relationship with AD John Currie. That sour relationship reached a breaking point during the NCAA Tournament, when Martin didn't agree with the way Currie handled the decision to hold senior Jamar Samuels out of a game against Syracuse, which K-State lost. Samuels, K-State sources said, was wired $200 by his former AAU coach. ... Martin said he didn't think Samuels did anything wrong and also said he played no part in the decision-making process. The situation upset Martin. He was so upset, the source close to Martin said, that he was ready to listen to South Carolina's offer.

Don't want to start a big debate, but IMO, this is another example of the have's versus the have-nots. USC jr is in the SEC, and with that comes the $$ to pay up for facilities and coaches. Much like Arky, a school here can use the football revenue to build facilities and pay close to $3 million for a coach.
SEC basketball will come back because of this. Calipari, Donovan, Martin, Anderson, Grant.......getting to be a pretty good assembly of quality coaches in the league.

While the $$$ part may be true, me thinks Martin being pizzed at the AD and playing second fiddle to Kansas was the impetus to begin the exit as much as the attraction to USCe.

Totally agree, DC.....my point, SEC can attract better coaches than they deserve given the current level of competition (KY excluded) based on faciliites and $$ to pay $3 mill for a basketball coach.

Moo State is open.......haven't heard many rumors there. More winning tradition that USC jr, but not as good in facilities. D2, you on here? anyone else hear any names associated with the Miss St job?

Not sure who you are talking about 06, but on Mikle & Mike in the Morning yesterday, they mentioned that none other than Frank Martin, the subject of this thread, said that he had paid players in college that had played for him in high school in Miami
