08:05 AM ET 03.28 | To date, the NBA has kept its uniforms free of advertising, though that may change in the future. In an attempt to generate more revenue, the NBA is pondering the idea of placing ads on the jerseys of every player from the 30 teams. This transition could create approximately $31.18 million in revenue in TV exposure alone. The NBA Board of Governors will meet next month to discuss the possibility of adding advertising on jerseys. The idea has been met with much support from players and coaches. Meanwhile, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban also said it's an idea whose time has come. "I've been trying to tell [the NBA]," Cuban said. "If someone wants to give us $10 million, I'll make it happen."

It was inevitable...

As much as I hate the idea, this has been coming for awhile.

Always thought that the NBA would be the first to do it.

Why bother? Just have the players add some logos and ads to their Tattoo collections.

You all know it's inevitable that some guy is going to show up at a game with a "Just do it!" tattoo on his forehead sooner than later.

Keep the uniforms clear of that BS.

Add to this Stern's ambition to globalize the sport and it makes even more sense.

$30 mil seems low. Some soccer teams make that alone per season in jersey ads.

this makes no sense, how about they just fix competitive balance, maybe fans will show up to all 30 arenas. Plus the sponsorship for large market teams will be greater than that of small market/losing teams. Who would you want selling your product lebron or jose coulderon?

What about players who have contracts with other companies where they can not support other corporations? I understand it is more exposure for the NBA but I think they can come up with something better than putting the like of Coca Cola, Viagra and Eggo Waffles on a Jersey. The could but it aroung the areanas on the court floor, scoreboard or make some commercials that highlights the NBA's association for the product. Soon players with there own shoe contracts are going to have to wear whomever has the highest buy in Nike, Jordan, Reebok etc.
