Silas lets son coach Bobcats once a week

08:13 AM ET 03.29 | The NBA would like to know in advance which Silas will be serving as the Bobcats' head coach for a game. Coach Paul Silas told me at shoot-around this morning that the league has asked the Bobcats for a heads-up whenever lead assistant Stephen Silas is taking over the team for a game. With the front office's blessing, Paul Silas is having his son coach about once a week the rest of the season as a training exercise. The likely next game Stephen Silas will coach is Saturday, on the road against the Detroit Pistons. It makes sense that the league office wants to inform that night's officiating crew in advance that Stephen Silas is in charge. Referees [allow] head coaches more latitude ... than they do assistants.

I guess firing Brown was a bad idea. Just when Brown was turning the franchise around and getting them into the playoffs, he gets fired the next year.

Larry was too much of a real coach for the scrubs on the boocats. Silas is a joke and it's obvious Jordan doesn't have the testicle fortitude to release this clown.

It Doesn't Matter Anyway, Bro.

The only story about this team I'm interested in is one where they fold and disband.

Training exercise for a head Coach??
Wooow Jordan is DUMB as a manager

March 29, 2012  11:24 AM ET

What is this, take your son to work for a day? Or in this case, once a week?

I think Jordan needs to just hire a GM like everyone else.. and just concentrate on being the owner.

Ummm thats not quite how it happened. I know the Cats dont national exposure but u couldnt be further from the truth. I guess bc I live here in CLT I KNOW what went on...

LB was fired basically bc he asked to be let out of his contract. So it wasnt that he was too much of a "real" coach for the team. He wasnt trying to develop the young talent and if you look at the roster, he blew it up and requested trades for several of the large contract bums on the team now. Also, since when has LB ever stayed around a team more than a couple years?? His track record speaks for itself, dont put that on the Bobcats.

As for Silas, he wasnt intended to be the long term solution. He already lived here in Charlotte and was beloved by the city from his time with the Hornets. Big Paul is just a stop gap solution, someone the players needed to have in the locker room after suffering through the constant bashing of LB. Many players regressed under LB bc of his coaching style and berating to the point where Raymond Felton never knew when to shoot or pass.

The Bobcats are run like a minor league franchise.

On a more interesting topic - How many here think Love is MVP worthy?

I know most people ask - Are they winning? But in this instance we gotta give the man his due. They're hurt. Playing in a tougher conference, and he is really out of charts!!
Perhaps if they can sneak into the playoffs, he can get more votes.

March 29, 2012  04:26 PM ET

Kevin Love is not the MVP because he is a one dimensional player...he plays D, but then again he doesn't

March 29, 2012  07:28 PM ET

... And watch Charlotte get Anthony Davis too.

MVP- should always be LeBron. It's proven you can put him on any team and he will make them better. He is great on offense and defense. No one is more valuable than the best player in the league. The sissy sports writers will screw him again while sippin on haterade because they hate him for no good reason.
