One option: Coyotes in Quebec by June

08:28 AM ET 03.29 | The fate of the Coyotes has been a topic of discussion for years. And right now, it appears there are three options, and not necessarily in this order: One, the Coyotes are packed up within the next month or so and moved to Quebec City, where la Colisee is hastily renovated with city money, and the party lasts all night and through much of the summer, and those who own provincial liquor distributorships or local bars are eventually able to buy their own islands. Two, the Coyotes are moved to Seattle, which seems far more complicated. ... Three, the Coyotes stay in Phoenix for another year, or in the realm of the least improbable eventualities, even longer.

It makes no sense to stay in Phoenix any longer.

I imagine if this happened, the NHL would HAVE to realign. Having Winnipeg in the Southeast is comical and having Quebec play in the Pacific would just be wrong on so many levels.

It's clear with all the smoke building that there really is fire. My guess is the minute the Coyotes' season ends, the news starts leaking that they are gone, and Bettman finally announces after the Finals what everyone already knows.

And yes, the realignment delay was planned so the Phoenix situation was resolved. Look at the earlier plan, and you'll see how easy it is to switch Phoenix in the West to Quebec in the East. No surprise there.

This concept of putting teams in markets where they can survive is puzzling to me.

Please boycott this thread and maybe we won't get anymore of them.

(probably the dumbest thing I've ever posted)

this is all assuming that;
a) Donald Fehr (the reaper) doesn't have a hissy fit over it
b) more importantly, that there IS a next season (see above)

would love to see the battle of Quebec star again... But then again not much of a battle right now with a terrible Montreal team and Phoenix.

Would love to see the Quebec Nordiques back in the NHL! I am not from Canada, but there is nothing worse then watching a Coyotes, Panthers, etc game in some non-hockey market on TV and the stadium is half-full. Atleast with Quebec and Winnipeg, you will have fanbases that support them, and with the salary cap/salary floor, these markets are in better shape to compete in todays NHL compared to 15 years ago.

I think they'll start packing the day after the season ends. By the Cup finals the franchise will be gone.
