08:07 AM ET 03.29 | With the second pick in the NFL Draft ... Washington selects its Week 1 quarterback? [Mike Shanahan said] Wednesday he will be open-minded about the possibility that the quarterback the team will draft in April, either Robert Griffin III or Andrew Luck, will be the club's starter at the outset of his rookie season. But that's not a given, according to Shanahan, who said the issue of whether the prized rookie starts immediately will depend on the young quarterback's progress during the offseason and training camp. "You put him in there when you feel like he's ready to go," Shanahan said at the NFC coaches' breakfast at the annual league meeting.

I feel so bad for the QB that Washington drafts. It won't end well.

Hey, if I'm choosing, I think I'd take Washington over Indianapolis at this stage.

That's so enlightening given the other exciting options.

Duh. If Shanahan doesn't start his rookie phenom next year he might be sitting at home on the couch watching someone else start his rookie phenom the following year.

We'll soon see whether Shanahan can coach up a young QB, or not.

Colts Pick RGIII, Rams pick Luck, luck pulls Eli, Luck traded to SF for Smith + 2 First Rounds, Smith traded to Skins for 2nd Rounder!

At this point, I think I'd prefer to see Shanahan back at home. He's so committed to absolutely nothing with that statement.

What a brilliant deduction from Mr Shanahan. I can thank him for one thing, he'se proven what I believed for years: all great coaches had great players. Shanhan has done nothing with a team that lacks talent. So much for his coaching abilities.
Of course this idiot will start whomever they pick, what else does he have and when you pay that kind of money to go to the dance, you dance.
