The last great coaching rivalry?

08:23 AM ET 03.29 | There is more than merely the matchup of the top two programs from a basketball-mad state on Saturday. [It's] juicy and rare for another reason: It showcases perhaps the last great coaching rivalry in American sports. Rick Pitino rebuilt Kentucky after a recruiting scandal, won the 1996 national championship, did a failed stint with the Boston Celtics, then enraged Wildcats fans by taking over at archenemy Louisville. John Calipari led Memphis and Massachusetts to Final Fours (later nullified by NCAA sanctions), did a failed stint with the New Jersey Nets and now leads Kentucky. Along the way the two coaches have sideswiped each other enough to leave dents and paint.

Both of these coaches are reprehensible. Where is the pride, at these institutions, that they have to sink so low to hire these bums ?

Louisville is our wee lil sister. Always has been, always will be. Yeah, they have to squat up there.

That makes sense, the sister part, after all it is Kentucky.

" ... the last great coaching rivalry in American sports"

LOL what a cheesy attempt to sell papers! I used to respect the Wall Street Journal.

And STP thought that their branding was safe...

0-6, if you're going to take a swipe at Louisville (you don't love the fluer de lis fountain floating mid-river?), try calling them Hedwigs. You avoid the gender thing and still have the Squat-To-Pee angle.
