08:23 AM ET 03.30 | Pierre Gauthier is out, turfed Thursday in Montreal, which leaves an interesting candidate pool that may be led by a favorite son ... or a television broadcaster. PATRICK ROY: He will be considered the frontrunner. Reports in the Montreal media have indicated he already has bought a house in Brossard, Que., near the club's practice facility. Molson said he hasn't spoken to Roy since his jersey was retired more than three years ago. ... PIERRE McGUIRE: The NBC analyst was the top choice of hockey fans calling into TSN 990 after Gauthier's firing was announced. McGuire is bilingual, grew up in the Montreal area and has ties to the Molson family.

At least Leafs fans have some MLB baseball to look forward to.

Montreal fans have been through a very tough year. They don't deserve that boob (McGuire).

that was a good old fashioned slaughter last night. it looked like the Marlies vs. Flyers
I saw some highlights, and the Leafs D literally skated away from Simmonds as he came out from behind their net. huh?

It doesn't seem so long ago that the Mats Sundin / Darcy **** Leafs were a team that could light you up in more ways than one. Even if you beat them in the playoffs you were too beat up to make a deep run, so you lost one way or the other. Now they are a comical walk-over. Too bad what they have become. They are pathetic.

No way. For the good of the league's other fans...get this idiot off TV, let him prove once and for all that he knows about as much as the average tahitian does, and then send him away when he (inevitably) falls on his big, domed head

At least they tanked against a good team. The Pens looked pretty bad against the Isles for the second game in a row. If the playoffs started today the Pens would be eliminated in 3 games.

LOL.

LOL! Can we give Martin away?

Look, let's all hope PM gets the job. Then that way the only time we all have to look at his ugliness is when our team plays Montreal. :)

Yeah, Montreal should return to glory promptly so their fans can continue their destruction of that town in the postseason.

Do they travel to Vancouver?

March 30, 2012  09:16 AM ET

Montreal should continue to give priority to French-speaking candidates. That approach has worked so well for them.
