Truth behind canceled Premiere Games

09:26 AM ET 04.01 | The Premiere Games in Europe that have opened each NHL season since 2007 will not be played next season, but not because of "uncertainty" relating to collective bargaining. Instead, Slap Shots has learned, the games will not be scheduled because the league did not accept the NHLPA's proposal that the NHL would bear the full responsibility to pay the costs of damages that would be paid to European promoters if a lockout forced cancellation of these matches while the union would accept full responsibility for reimbursement in the event that a strike forced the games to be canceled.

As seen in the following video the "real" truth is the rioters aren't wearing enough NHL sweaters or lighting enough fires.
"When Europe is up to Vancouver and Montreal standards we'll be back," said the Buttgoblin.
BTW - I loved the European zamboni (#10 in your program)

For those of you not half a century old, it actually did happen. Honest. It's not a prank.
Love the black and white.

You sure that wasn't a parade for the Queen and the Stanley Cup just superimposed to make it look like they won?

Well, it was fun watching the Pengoons do what they do best. Playing chippy hockey. And, judging by the calls, I'm not looking forward to playing them in the first round as the Flyers will have to beat the refs as well.

Engelland fighting Simmonds a day after Simmonds got a bunch of stitches in his face surprised me. I lost a lot of respect for what I thought was a good, hard-nosed player. Pens certainly looked like the goons today. Flyers do not have anyone that is tough other than Simmonds.

I think it's just that folks in Europe don't give a flying **** about the NHL.

This looks like a good hit to me.

That hit was fine. The other stuff was a bit of a joke. But no problem. The right team won the game.

Brierre should have shown better situational awareness and kept his head up. He knew the Pens' fourth line was on the ice and that they weren't out there to win the game. Flyers should have been dumping the puck, not attacking. Vitale was definitely head-hunting, probably in response to Schenn's cross-check on Sid, even though Sid seemed to go down pretty easy. He does have a history of being a drama queen. I think they play next week. That should be a chippy game.

As you know I don't have dog in that fight but it's fun to poke at them with a stick. :-)
It's going to be an awesome playoff series.
(I couldn't find the Schenn crosscheck on Crosby) poke poke poke

The Rangers would lick their chops if the Pens tried their end-of-game crap on us. Again, where's the respect for the fighters' code when your heavyweight goes after the other team's freshly-stitched middleweight?

Funny that the Broad Street Bullies went 0-for all the fights. Just goes to show how antiquated the BSB thing is. That team is not built to win the fights.

Seeing a flyers fan call another team goons? Now that's april first at its finest.

Briere did have his head up and managed fine. I don't think Vitale was headhunting. Just the usual Pens tactics when they are losing. They play again next Saturday. Depending on what's at stake will decide how chippy the game is I think.

A.) That was a solid, legal hit. A good hit, no matter who is playing and no matter how much time is left in the game. He didn't leave his feet, he didn't use his elbow or aim for the head. He hit the puck carrier. I honestly have no idea what your problem with it is.
B.) The Flyers really deserve everything that happens to them. Both from a historical standpoint, and especially as long as they have Pronger on their roster. A possibly career-ending concussion couldn't have gone to a more deserving person.

I'm a little disappointed in Cynthia. She has the skill & the experience to make this type of non-event look much worse than she managed to do in this instance. Hell, I've seen her get hit with much less force and still manage to get both of her feet off the ice as she goes down, acting like she was shot at close range by my very own Mauser.
