Rangers-Angels MLB's best rivalry?

10:53 AM ET 04.01 | The Rangers have not yet provided their fans that elusive championship ring, but they've given them the next best thing. They are part of the best rivalry in baseball. Sorry, Red Sox-Yankees. Your day has come and gone (and your games were just too long, by the way). In 2012, Rangers-Angels is where it's at. When the Rangers rolled through the AL playoffs in 2011, only to fall short in the World Series again, the Angels took notice. They struck in the Rangers' backyard, no less, announcing on Dec. 8 at the Anatole Hotel that they had signed Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson for more than $330 million. Talk about fuel for a rivalry. Rangers fans already had learned to hate (in a nice way, of course) Pujols from his World Series Game 3 power show at Rangers Ballpark. As for Wilson, the team's ace of the last two seasons had gone so far south in the postseason that many Rangers fans were happy to see him depart -- but uneasy to see him take his regular-season success to the middle of the Angels' rotation.

Yankees/Red Sox, Cardinals/Cubs, Dodgers/Giants. Yes. Angels/Rangers???? They might play some good games against each other this year but "rivalry'? Nah. Heck, they practically wear the same uniforms, right down to the red color and the "ange" across the chest.

This is the biggest rivalry in the universe, especially considering Pujols used to play on the Rangers.

Rivalries are either regional or established over decades. Inter-divisional rivalries exist, but Angels-Rangers? 1400 miles apart? Not until they combine for multiple championships over consecutive years.

What have you been smoking? Or do you just not know a thing about baseball?

Seems to me that sarcasm isn't something you've mastered.

I like you already though. Next time you're in Chicago, I'll buy you a cafe au lait.

Instead of a smart-**** remark -- where do you come off saying that Pujols ever played for Texas in any capacity?

Settle down. Since he never played in, Texas, it was obviously a facetious remark playing down the idea of this being the best rivalry in MLB. You really have to take it easy, cowboy.

Just keep on smelling both teams butt hold.

Watch out! BA Raiders Fan only wants rigid, ultra serious comments on here. Did you know that Pujols was born in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma?

Sounds to me that Dallas Morning News just can't stand the fact that something outside of Texas, especially someting from the North, is bigger and better than something in Texas.

Well it's not the Cards vs. the Cubbies. The Cards dominate them too much.

April 1, 2012  01:59 PM ET

I thought Texas seceded, so wouldn't that make this an international rivalry?

A world without smart **** remarks is a world I don't want to be part of...I must have missed the section stating "no smart **** remarks allowed" when I signed up with this site.
