08:14 AM ET 04.02 | Barry Zito opened the season as a new man of sorts. [Zito] began the spring with a new, crouched delivery. He ended it in full duck-and-cover mode. And now, with opening day around the corner, the Giants have asked Zito to hit the reset button. He threw from a more familiar, upright delivery during Sunday's side session with pitching coach Dave Righetti, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. "Talking to Rags, he was OK," Bochy said. "A little more upright." Righetti won't be able to supervise Zito on Wednesday, since the left-hander's start will come in minor league camp. The Giants will send non-roster right-hander Yusmeiro Petit in Zito's place to face the A's at AT&T Park.

Every team seems to have a player that's an albatross and he happens to be the one the Giants are stuck with.

April 2, 2012  09:12 AM ET

Does that make Barry the most expensive guy in the minors?

April 2, 2012  09:42 AM ET

No matter what he does he'll suck. Stick a fork in him ...

Agreed, but this one is a bigger albatross than most.

you either straight up yourself,, or yourself get straight up,,,, there are things that the players most clearly understand, mechanics has too much to do with the way the pitchers get lost in the mound!!!

I don't know about Pineda, but if A-Rod doesn't produce, it's him...they mean big contracts that hinder the team...

Injuries are part of the game they hurt more when you pay more, you left out Jason Bay with the Mets, he's never recovered from his concussion, and probably never will!

Maybe a move back to the AL would be what Zito needs.

Maybe the state of Arizona can hold Zito as an suspected illegal alien for about 6 months. That would be about right for about 99% of Giants fans.
