Celtics' Allen losing starting spot?

08:05 AM ET 04.03 | Avery Bradley has given the Celtics a jolt in place of the injured Ray Allen, particularly on defense. [Bradley] has provided the team with another staunch backcourt defender -- just witness how he bottled up Miami's Dwyane Wade in Sunday's 91-72 win at TD Garden. Wade finished 6 for 17 shooting for 15 points, and Bradley (13 points) highlighted his effort with an impressive block of a Wade dunk attempt in the second quarter. Allen has missed the past seven games with an ankle injury, and coach Doc Rivers was asked whether Allen would automatically return to the starting lineup when healthy. "I don't know, we're playing well but we've also played well with Ray by the way," Rivers said.

I could use Ray Allen as a 6th man...

April 3, 2012  08:27 AM ET

Nope, Ray Ray is still the starter... but thanks for beating the Heat.

He can come to NY.

It's not who starts that matters, it's who finishes.

Tiny? As in Archibald? I'd take that.

The thing is... I don't think Allen would have a problem if Doc made such a move. He's the consummate professional and a guy who's is more interested in winning than he is blowing his own horn.

Lets see... Bradly starts.. does most of the grunt work, gets a lot of valuable minutes and stays ready for any and all action.. and Ray gets to play most if not all of the second half and stick those late game daggers into the heart of the opponent while running on fresh legs...

Sounds like a plan to me, Doc.

Like someone said... it's not who starts, but who finishes. In honestly think Ray Allen doesn't care.

The C's are 11-4 with Bradley as a starter.

I think Ray wouldn't mind either. Just as long as they're winning he is fine. Gives him more time to rest. Posters think that Ray is complaining.

Ray Allen is one of those guys that never's complains and is the ultimate TEAM guy. The fact that Doc can even entertain the thought in public and not have Rays agent falling all over himself to clear the matter up demonstrates that.

Keeping Bradley active and involved can only be a good thing. Giving Ray rest so he can be fresh at the games end is more important than what happens at the beginning

and on a team that can go one scoring droughts...ray is a crucial, but that kid has some chemistry with rondo that makes the decision hard....

I'm more inclined to give Bradley as much time as possible while still keeping Ray improved in the second half/crunch time scenarios.

They've been doing just fine with Bradley. He's responded in a big way... especially defensively. A role that takes a lot of work and put a lot on Rays shoulders.

This entire "I am starter" mentality is what ruins a lot of guys as far as I'm concerned.. especially the aging stars.

They are very different players... but in this case we need them both.
