08:15 AM ET 04.03 | Derek Dooley, whether he wants to pair it with orange pants, is wearing a bull's-eye. The Volunteers failed to make the postseason in [Dooley's] second year on the job, stumbling to a 1-7 mark in the SEC and 5-7 overall a year after going to the Music City Bowl. It's safe to say that Dooley is entering a make-or-break third campaign in Knoxville, especially following unrest on the coaching staff and player personnel issues this offseason. New defensive coordinator Sal Sunseri must be able to bring a little Alabama flair with him while keeping the unit playing at the high level it did under former coordinator Justin Wilcox. Quarterback Tyler Bray has the weapons at receiver, although the Da'Rick Rogers issue is a concern.

When coaches started winning 2-3 years into their tenure. Is it fair? Not really.
I'll say this about their defense change - if they don't have the personnel to run a 4-3 then it is probably smart to go to a 3-4 with Sunseri as the lead man. 3-4 is a lot more flexible to be able to fit your players in. You can have those tweener guys that can put a hand down and rush, or drop back into some kind of protection and move them all around a lot.

Agree except a 3-4 is dependent on having a space eater at NT. Anything under 320 and you can be pushed around in the run game.

Who are the Vols? Isn't that the team that lost to Wyoming? Although they managed to keep it close.
