Blount on Richardson: 'I would not like that pick'

08:03 AM ET 04.04 | A number of mock drafts find Trent Richardson landing with the Buccaneers. The premise of this is Greg Schiano's willingness to run the ball. And then run some more. And then run some more after that. How would this sit with current running back LeGarrette Blount? Um, not very well. I asked him on Tuesday what he thought of that projection. "I would not like that pick," Blount said at Nike's unveiling of the new NFL uniforms in New York City. "I would definitely not be happy with that pick." Blount stressed that he wants to be a feature back, and when asked about the possibility of taking on a Brandon Jacobs-like role, he expressed, in no uncertain terms that he wouldn't want to simply be a goal-line guy. "I don't want that role."

That's too high to go RB.

Too bad you can't draft a heart because this team needs one.

The young players on the Buc's don't have a handle on facing and fighting through adversity. There's too much immaturity for one team to handle.

Yup... this is one team that needs a rudder.

Their ex-coach needed to be hit over the head with one.

With all their other positions that need upgrading, it would be a lousy idea to use your first pick on a RB. They just are not that hard to find in the other rounds.
The Saints take Mark Ingram in the first round last year. Get 474 yards and less than 4 yards a carry out of him. Bet they wish they had a little more defensive help in that 49er game.
The Bucs can do better.

April 4, 2012  09:56 AM ET

You can get some quality RB's in the mid rounds. I agree with him. They need to look at a shut down CB.

You're about to talk yourself out of a job, you fumbling inconsistent fool. You aren't Adrian Peterson. Don't let the door hit ya...

This team was doomed when the GM stated 3 years ago that they were going to go "young". That means inexperience, lack of veteran leadership (you may bring up Ronde Barber, but a DB holds no weight like a LB or OL does), and immaturity. As far as Blount goes, he is right, but you carry the rock not the franchise (albeit you dropped that rock 5x in a partial season during key plays) so I would stay out of the media. With the Saints and Falcons aerial attack, you need help in the secondary (either through draft or Asante...Eagles would love that pic and no not straight up).

Yeah, sure. Being given the role of scoring touchdowns is such an insult.

April 4, 2012  11:34 AM ET

This the same Team that Traded Steve Young!!!! And got Vinny Testaverde, Go Figure!!!!!

Blount is as immature and selfish today as he was when he sucker-punched that BSU player a few years ago. It's all about him - the team concept is alien to him, and winning is secondary to "him." What a loser - if the Bucs had any balls, they'd draft Richardson and then try to trade Blount. Maybe they can get a 5th round pick.
