Embattled Howland's future may hinge on Muhammad

08:21 AM ET 04.04 | Try as he might, Kyle Anderson wasn't able to teach the right clap to Shabazz Muhammad. "You have to work on it," said Anderson, who signed a letter of intent with UCLA last fall and was lobbying to have Muhammad do the same next week. "I told him we'll work on it some more when he commits." Ben Howland would certainly be willing to give Muhammad all the practice he wants. The embattled Bruins coach, whose teams have failed to make the NCAA tournament in two of the last three seasons, may need to land the prep phenom to remain embedded on the Pauley Pavilion sideline. ... Recruiting experts say Muhammad would make UCLA an immediate Pac-12 Conference title contender while reinvigorating a fan base that has largely gone into hiding.

correct, we should only have 1 BB thread every few days for obvious reasons. Around October FN can go back to 2 or more BB threads until the end of the brackets.

After watching the NCAA hoops games the last two nights, I am now a supporter of the BCS. We need a BCS version for hoops to make it more interesting. Kentucky men and Baylor women left absolutely no doubt who is the best because they whipped everyone....and we don't have a damn thing to argue about who is truly #1. I like the arguing created in the BCS so I now fully support the it. More fun.

If this kid ends up at UCLA they must be paying way more than Kentucky. Why sign with a PAC team that might contend for the conference when you can sign with a team that might contend for the NC?

I said it once and I will say it again, IMO it doesn't matter which school he signs with, as if the kid is all that good, then he will be playing in the NBA after one year in college!!!!

This is why Muhammad will come to UCLA:
Jrue Holiday, Darren Collison, Jordan Farmar, Ryan Hollins, Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Kevin Love, Arron Afflalo, and Russell Westbrook. Guys like Collison and Westbrook were not even that highly recruited in high school but now are NBA starting PGs for playoff bound teams.

A good example is the Washington Husky BB team, they lost two players, one a freshman and other a sophomore that declared for the NBA draft. The Huskies won the regular (not the tournament) season title. How can a BB program progress when they keep losing players after one or two years?

Good point!!! When Love came to UCLA, everyone knew he was going to be a "One and Done", Westbrook left after his sophomore year and look at him now, hell he is a top 5 NBA point guard!!!

So Howland's job hinges on him signing one specific recruit?
Wow. Wonder who at UCLA will write a check to this kid?
No, wait. Put the cash in a shoe box and send it FedEx....like Kentucky does.
