Patrick Willis thinks his coach is nuts

08:00 AM ET 04.05 | The Lions may agree with only half of San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis' sentiment. [Willis] thinks his coach is nuts, but there's a method to his madness. Willis said on ESPN Radio today that 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh acts a little crazy around the team, but it's a craziness rooted in his loyalty to the players -- and that's something the players love. "He is crazy, but he's a good crazy," Willis said. "He's the kind of crazy that there is not a player on that team that would not go to war with him. ... He's crazy in that if he had to lay himself on the line to make sure that you'd live, the guy beside him would keep fighting, he would do that. That's crazy, but he's that type of coach for us."

Well, it seems to have worked so far. He even got Alex Smith playing at a high level. But beware of the dark side and becoming like Rex Ryan.

"Crazy" will take a team to success for so long. Mike Singletary was nuts too. Matter of fact, I think he showed them to the team once.

If he can turn Alex Smith into a respectable QB, he can do any and everything!

But, can Harbaugh keep Randy Moss motivated for an entire season? That's what I want to see.

If the Niners keep winning and Moss is involved enough in the game plan, he will be motivated.

No, Patrick, he's a bad crazy. His baseball hat's on too tight and one of these days he's going to pop.

I can't speculate as to his mental state but I would recommend he get those gums looked at. They seem to be a little more blotchy every time I look at that photo.

Harbaugh doesn't run off his mouth making wild boastful predictions like Nostradamus Ryan.

I think just the way Mosses contract is structured shows that Randy is here to Play the whole season. If Moss wins a Super Bowl this year he will keep playing and retire only when Manning does so they can be inducted into the HOF the same year.

Yup, Rex is the bad kind of crazy and pretty stupid to boot. Not a very useful combination.

Harbaugh has one of those rare qualities of leadership, the players at Stanford saw it in him when they were recruited and played for him, as do the 49er players. I think what Willis likes about Harbaugh is something he and his fellow players see in Willis.

He has turned the 49ers around in the right direction so far! He is a bit hyper, but I like that!

Even old & negative Niner fans like me are convinced that Harbaugh is the 2nd coming....

Makes the York's look smart for the first time in over 12 years....
