08:04 AM ET 04.05 | The news doesn't seem to be getting any better for Gregg Williams. The night before [Williams'] final game as the New Orleans Saints' defensive coordinator, the since-suspended coach gave a fiery speech to the team's defensive players during which he made specific references to inflicting physical punishment upon several San Francisco 49ers in a postseason game the next day. In the speech at the team's hotel near the San Francisco Airport, Williams -- according to documentary filmmaker Sean Pamphilon -- at one point made a hand signal suggesting he would personally pay for a ferocious shot on 49ers quarterback Alex Smith. Williams also referenced the prospect of his players inflicting a severe knee injury upon San Francisco wideout Michael Crabtree.

Listening to the audio now...

I am going out on a limb and say here and now that Gregg WIlliams is probably done as a coach after hearing this.

And - If there was even a small, shred of hope for Payton to have his suspension modified, that's gone too.

This guy needs to be banned from the game forever.

If I were this guy, I would live the rest of my life looking over my shoulder for guys like Crabtree or Smith who SHOULD be waiting to kick Williams' a$$

Agree totally. He is done. Some bridges just cannot be fixed.

I'm finding it a little hard to believe. Sounds like more rumor than truth.

The hand signal reference sounds a bit vague, but I agree with previous posters that there is enough evidence on Williams to keep him from ever coaching in the NFL again.

The ironic thing about the (short version) of the audio, is that the very last things that Williams says is to "never apologize for the way we play the game". What was the first thing that Williams did when this story first broke? HE apologized!

Williams shoulda paid Donte Whitner for taking out Pierre Thomas that day.

The Niners aren't stupid enough to have a videotape running in their locker room.
Williams isn't being punished for the bounties...he's being punished for being STUPID.

And guess who is now talking of what he did in Washington...

Bum ass Carlos Rogers. It's like the Redskins vs. the world.

LOL the Bills players said he did it there too

I think the thing with the Saints, is they were warned for years about it, before being penalized.
