08:02 AM ET 04.06 | Few come away from listening to Gregg Williams' pregrame speech against the 49ers without some visceral reaction, but not many can understand how White Sox general manager Ken Williams felt about it. [Ken Williams] took exception to the fact his son Kyle, a wide receiver/punt returner with the San Francisco 49ers, reportedly was targeted by former [Gregg Williams]. ... [Ken Williams issued a statement Thursday that read, in part:] "Personally, suspension or not, it's probably best I'm never in a room with Gregg Williams and wonder if such an order crosses the line of the aggressive, competitive spirit we all know and love about the sport; and leans closer to a criminal act and therefore a litigious matter.

The outrage over this incident is ridiculous considering this probably has been going on in NFL locker rooms since it's inception. The self-righteousness of people never ceases to amaze.

Yup I agree its a different situation.... Someone was telling someone else to hurt my kid, well I'd be ripping that someone's throat out.

Williams need to go permanently from the NFL and the STL Rams. He disrepected the game and asked players to HURT other players, on purpose. Am I being mean? No, he can work at the college level or below...but the NFL ought to draw a line in the sand. PERIOD. And yes, as much as I am NOT a ChiSox fan, Ken Williams has every right to tell Gregg Williams to stay away. Thus endeth the rant.

This might be the explanation behind the 49'ers having a rookie on punt return, during the playoffs.

Yeah, but it doesn't explain why they go 1-13 on third down conversions.

Williams has cooked his goose. He's done with the NFL. I wonder if any college program will be willing to take a risk on him as a defensive coordinator or head coach. I'm sure they would have to wait a year or two so Williams could say he has been rehabilitated and realizes the error of his fractious ways.
