08:03 AM ET 04.06 | Ryan Tannehill's draft stock may pay dividends in Minnesota. [Tannehill] seems to be the player whose car is ascending faster up the track than anyone else's right now. Suddenly, thanks to a superb on-campus pro day, Tannehill has scouts and general managers and draft experts feeling incredibly intrigued by his skill set and upside. Which, it just so happens, could impact what the Vikings do with the No. 3 pick. How, you ask? No, General Manager Rick Spielman has no interest in drafting Tannehill, the Vikings still very much behind Christian Ponder as their designated quarterback of the future. But Spielman would be wise to aggressively promote the growing hype around Tannehill in an effort to enhance the value of his No. 3 pick.

Spielman is still behind Ponder? He probably still thinks the Titanic is unsinkable.

Vikes behind Ponder just like the Jets are behind Dirty Sanchez?

This would be a dumb move. The Vikings seem like they don't know which way to turn with their QB's.

Stick with drafting Kalil and quit jerking around.
Still, I'd love to play poker with an idiot like Spielman.

Just stop! Nobody is trading to that spot to take Tannehill.
The question is if anybody would spend a first round pick on him? Doubtful.

The only QB that has had success there over the past few years other than Favre, is Joe Webb.
Why they start garbage instead of him, is beyond me.

Seems to happen every year with somebody. Doesn't production count for anything anymore? Maybe this guy turns into something after years of practice, like Brad Johnson did before winning a title in Tampa. But does a team want to spend a first round pick on a guy that may or may not turn into something for 5 or 6 years let alone trade picks to move up and get him?

Right, I keep thinking this has to be some media creation and no one is legit considering him in the 1st half of the 1st round. He didn't show a lot in his limited time starting in college, this guy is a project that belongs in the 2nd round. Not a top 10 pick that will be starting almost immediately... Then again it's likely to be the Dolphins drafting him, soooooo haha cool.

They do have a history of bad QB drafting. But even they must get it after a while, or not.

Lindy sports draft magazine compares him to Mark Sanchez. Hmmmm? Is that defamation?

I thought that about Ponder and Gabbert.

I agree. Get a good tackle and he's effective for at least 7 or 8 years. They need to give Ponder some more time. He's shown some flashes of being really good. . . and some of being really bad. Give him some time.
