08:08 AM ET 04.06 | Though Greg Oden may have played his final game in Portland, his agent, Mike Conley, Sr., doesn't see it as the end of the line. Having gone through five major knee operations, Conley says Oden's spirits are high and he's looking forward to getting back on the court and proving that he can still be a force in this league. Which means, he's not thinking about calling it quits. "No he's not retiring. The only way that would happen is if he was forced to and I don't see that happening," Conley said. ... If rehabilitation goes as planned, he could be ready to play by early next year. The Miami Heat and Indiana Pacers -- to name a few -- have been rumored to have interest in the unrestricted free agent big man.

He's too young not to try and make some sort of a comeback.

The poor kid is going to end up like Bowie. It's a shame we'll never know how good he could've been.

All I know is that if guys like Shawn Livingston and Willis McGahee can come back from their awful knee injuries, then hopefully Greg Oden can too. But I doubt it.

Just Enjoy Your Money, Bro.

Isn't everybody's next chance with the Heat? It never ends.

I was amazed at their full recoveries as well, but Oden's a big big man. A lot more weight for those knees to handle.

Maybe he should visit Kobe's German doctor. He did an unbelievable job on the Mamba's knees which were supposed to be the death of his career for being bone on bone!

Miami's always been where people go to retire. Even before the NBA!

He should come back to Indy. not a pacers fan(live in indy tho) but thats a better situation than Miami. he'd be more of a crowd fav in a pacer uniform. ya know...the 3 fans still rooting for the pacers...

i'm still convinced he's the real life Benjamin Button and he's actually 80 years old. i saw him as a frosh back when he went to high school @ LN and i thought that he was the grandfather of Oden.

Heat need somebody that looks older than LeBron

April 6, 2012  11:46 AM ET

He has a lot of work to do on his game.

Isn't it obvious that Oden should be begging to go to the Suns? That medical staff brought back Hill, kept old Shaq on the court, and even Redd this year...Not to mention Nash doesn't seem to age there at all

When was he ever a force in the league? He never played long enough to live up to that hype!!

In Portland, we just watch Kevin Durant and wonder what could have been. Thanks for nothing, Greg. You made Sam Bowie look like a Hall of Famer.

Yea i'm sure he'd hoped all along that he'd have no knees in his early twenties...what a selfish jerk
