08:20 AM ET 04.06 | In Storrs, it's all about the numbers, the cold numbers that lead to a dark season in men's basketball. Perhaps it is fitting that the cleverest Connecticut resident, Mark Twain, popularized the saying, "There are three types of lies: lies, damn lies and statistics." If ever numbers have been called on to sing and dance to a certain narrative, it is the NCAA's crushing case against the state university. When the school announced Thursday that the NCAA Committee on Academic Performance rejected its final appeal for a waiver to compete in the 2013 NCAA basketball tournament, it would be a Boston College man -- of all people -- who would scream the loudest. "Absolutely outrageous," Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said.

I think that they are getting a raw deal. How about Kentucky and their one and doners. Do you think that they are going to class ?They are probably all gone now that the season is over. There is something way out of kilter in collegiate athletics.
