08:05 AM ET 04.06 | "Letting go of the rope," referenced by Tom Thibodeau earlier this week, seems to be going around, an affliction that hit Doc Rivers' Celtics Thursday in Chicago. [Said Rivers:] "I thought this was the worst approach to a game all year for us. Chicago was too tough for us tonight. They got into us and frustrated us, and we let go of the rope. We've got three weeks to get better. "That was an unacceptable effort for us tonight. It was a crime. We just thought we were cool. ... No one wanted to work. You don't play basketball like that." Though Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce [stats] both acknowledged that an emotional Rivers gave everyone a piece of his anger after the game, they didn't necessarily agree with his assessment.

Damn I stopped watching at halftime and chalked it up as a loss.

It just goes in one ear and out the other anyways with the veterans on the team.

Well they cant play like that every night.. Everyone now and then needs a day off.

Its a non issue.. The Celtics been there and done that. I will be watching them in the playoffs.

Blame It On Danny Boy, Bro.

Maybe if Doc Rivers knew how to coach things might have been different. His lousy play calling is to blame for the Spurs loss.

His lousy substitutions and sudden benching of Stiemsma are to blame for the Chicago loss. The Steamer is a great shot blocker and a big body and 6 free fouls that he could have used against the more athletic front court of the Bulls.

Doc is a great personnel manager... but as a coach... he sort of sucks.

Coach trying to light a fire under their green butts!

Though Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce [stats] both acknowledged that an emotional Rivers gave everyone a piece of his anger after the game, they didn't necessarily agree with his assessment.

They may not agree, but should keep it to themselves. There are others on the team that may be swayed to agree with the example set before them.

Both the losses could have been avoided but for some really bad turnovers in closing minutes. So I do agree with Doc on this one. It's not like SA or CHI blew them off. Careless passing by Rondo and KG cost them crucial turnovers on both the games.
Both of them are excellent passers, but made crucial errors in the last 2 games.

He's a frustrating coach to deal with...I agree. But he's the main reason that the team has the #4 seed after losing two players to heart surgery, another to a concussion and another to a wrist injury. Not to mention all the games in between that starters have missed throughout the year (Rondo, Allen). He needs to trust his young guys more and give them a chance, however. He might be pleasently surprised

And you "hate" him because of why? He's not exactly a bum who got hot. He's a freaking All star!

The Celtics played their heart out the night before against the Spurs. What does Doc think they are? Robots?

He probably thought they were professional ballers.......

Not worried about the celts.......That being said, how can doc question the teams focus when he was flying to and from his sons game in north carolina between games last month?

I can't answer your question but....I saw the 2nd half of this game last night and they did lack focus.
