10:21 AM ET 04.07 | The event is now ingrained in Rangers lore, having been replayed repeatedly on the Ballpark's video board during a montage of highlights documenting the history of the franchise. The clip of legendary pitcher Nolan Ryan pummeling a young White Sox third baseman names Robin Ventura after he brazenly charged the mound on Aug. 4, 1993 often elicited the loudest cheers. et since that good, old-fashioned donnybrook happened near the mound at Arlington Stadium, Ventura and Ryan haven't met face-to-face to exchange words...that is, until Friday. Before the Rangers defeated the Chicago White Sox, 3-2, Ventura, the White Sox rookie manager, visited briefly with Ryan, the Rangers team president, in a hallway outside the White Sox clubhouse. "I just congratulated him for the last couple of years," Ventura said. "He's done a great job." Asked whether he he was happy to have that meeting,Ventura flashed a wry smile and said, "I think everybody else here was. I think they wanted to hear about it. It's just nice to say, 'Hey, Congratulations.' It wasn't anything more than that."

While this piece is featured in a Rangers historical montage, they have a huge blank in the video where a WS trophy should be....

Seriously though, I think Ventura can make a difference in the Pale Hose.. He was a very good, competitive player who knew the game..I think he can revitalize the Sox....... Good Luck Robin...

I agree completely. Nice guy, good player, unfortunate incident.

Robin Ventura: the only player in MLB history to get 6 hits off of Nolan Ryan in one at-bat.

Probably. That movie, rated PG, doesn't look the least bit funny. I'd rather be subject to two hours of Ozzie Guillen quotes while strapped to a chair.
