Why Cavs will likely pass on Sullinger

11:02 AM ET 04.08 | Like most teams in the lottery, the Cavs will look at Jared Sullinger. The Ohio State sophomore is projected as a power forward. One executive told me: "He can go anywhere between seven to 15. I don't think he will be a great pro, but he could be a solid guy who plays a long time in the league." The Cavs have Tristan Thompson at power forward. They also have Anderson Varejao playing center, but he is best suited for power forward. It would be a surprise if the Cavs went for Sullinger.

and there's the Lebron factor. Picking the local prospect can blow it on you.

Sullinger's college game won't work in the NBA against bigger guys. He's over-rated and should go 10+.

This is pretty obvious, not sure Sullinger will be any better than Thompson who they just drafted. Cavs should be in 3-6 area in draft, probably won't get a superstar there but draft is deep enough that they should get an impact player. Not sure Sullinger is that

Sullty should be alright don't think he's get any better staying in college...may have reached his peak already

lot of minus's in his game...but he played for a Final Four team it all matters who you're in company with...hence that's why he was named All-American

April 8, 2012  03:56 PM ET

but then again the Cavs may take him anywho...not the smartest team on the block...remember they had Danny Ferry as a GM not to mention Wayne Embry

His main problem is his height/athleticism combination. He will probably measure at 6'7" and he can't jump over a phone book. That is not going to work in the NBA. I think he should stay in college and really work on his body more.

agree-don''t take a projected role guy/bench guy with a top 5 pick(see the bobcats)

Sounds like there is a similar situation to Sheldon Williams getting drafted #5 overall

What you describe sounds like Dejuan Blair.....who will have a 12 year career.

Except Blair is 6'9" and has some of the longest arms you'll ever see. He is also much wider.

Blair is 6'7" and Sullinger was listed this season at 6'9". I think a pretty good comparison for his game is Elton Brand.
