08:04 AM ET 04.09 | San Francisco's receiving corps continues to swell. Brett Swain, who won a five-man competition and joined the 49ers in October, signed with the team, his agent announced Friday. Swain was added after Joshua Morgan broke his leg and was lost for the season. He beat out T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Chris Chambers, Brian Finneran, and Joe Hastings for the job but only had two receptions for 15 yards during the regular season. ... In addition to Swain, the 49ers have receivers Michael Crabtree, Ted Ginn, Hastings, Mario Manningham, John Matthews, Randy Moss and Kyle Williams under contract for the 2012 season. They also are likely to add at least one wideout in the draft later this month.

There are a lot of names in that article, but none that wow me at all. I guess it's quantity over quality.

Uh is that a dangerous condition?

Ted Ginn, Randy Moss. I got to let that sink in for minute. I think most of those receivers have "made in china" stamped on their a## at this point in their careers.

Lot of #3 wideouts.

April 9, 2012  09:52 AM ET

What we need is a guy who can return Kickoffs & Punts----Ted Ginn is ok when healthy--which is really rare...

They're going to run the super-spread. No Tight Ends, two receivers in the back field and a four-man front.

Don't forget Crabtree...

Guess that's why they didn't go after Mike Wallace

Brett Swain 6'0"/200 SDS, John Matthews 6'0"/200 SD? They must have done something impressive. Baalke loves to look for gold where no one else has looked, they also seem fixated to the San Diego area, also bringing in Josh Johnson QB 6'3"/ 220 SD. But I think these guys although are classified as WR they are really designated to Special Teams. If SF doesn't draft a WR in the 1st round they will pick one up in the 3rd or 4th rounds. So far their WR Corps is short and with only average speed. It should be interesting to see who is faster Randy Moss 34 yrs old or Michael Crabtree 24 yrs old.

Mike Wallace is no bigger than Brett Swain or John Matthews. Wallace would have been to costly for any team and that is why no team in the NFL pursued him, not just the 49ers. I can think of plenty of WR's in this years draft that I'd rather have than Wallace,

They may go after a kick/punt returner in the 3rd day of the draft.

What? No Kyle Williams?

Knowing he may have single-handedly kept his team from a Super Bowl must really suck.

He did not single handedly cause SF to not make it to the playoffs. Having only one reception from the WR's was another. I agree Williams first blunder were the ball brushed his knee was stupid. The second time where the ball was striped out of his hands could have happened to anyone.

Glad to hear that!! The Steelers will gladly keep him for at least another year. BTW all those WR's in the draft haven't played a down in the NFL yet.

Harbaugh seems to be leaving no stone un-turned. He does realize that Peyton Manning chose Denver, doesn't he?
