08:07 AM ET 04.09 | Lamar Odom is becoming more conspicuous in his absence, particularly Saturday night. This night would have been the perfect chance for him to gain respect among his teammates, even at this late date, to help them grind out a needed victory. Yet his coach couldn't even stomach more than the four minutes Odom spent on the floor in the first quarter, low-lighted by an awkward layup attempt that didn't have a prayer and an offensive foul. ... [The silence regarding Odom's place on this team] said all that needed to be said. Carlisle, asked if there remains hope that Odom can provide anything for the team, said in a distant voice: "No Lamar questions tonight."

I'm going to say yes. And I'm going to say Lamar has given up on the team and himself. Go crawling back to LA and be with your manly wife Lamar. Grow up and stop acting like a baby.

Some times players don't adapt to new environment or people. I know he gets paid alot and should just play ball but it isn't always that easy when you are unhappy where you at.

I'm a huge Lakers fan having lived in LA for a lot of my childhood but I was raised in Dallas and have been a Mavs fan from day one. I wanted this to work out for Lamar and for the Mavs but it's clear this guy is a selfish head-case. The NBA should take his 6th man award back just out of spite. What a loser...

Whatever,,,, We say that because of what he makes? I seen plenty of times where people were happy at a job in places like Florida and Vegas but then got sent to places like North Dakota and couldn't cope.. It could be home life or marriage life that isn't working with this change who knows. The team has options they could explore as well and will this off season.

Get real, this is a sport. Whatever going on his personal life is more important then you or anyone else.. He didn't quit but his heart isn't in it right now. It happens at times.. Some things are more important to each individual person.. We saw what happen to Pau last yr after his GF situation. Everyone is different. Some are more emotional..

and again i ask the question....That gives him the right to QUIT on those that are relying on him?
Yes its a sport to you or i but to him its his job....Just bc something bad happens on home doesnt give you the right to go to work and not to your job....You have a responsibility...So he needs to nut up and get over it...it isnt like ppl havent tried to help him or be there for him...he just simply quit...

they have already catered to his needs...letting him take a 10 day leave of absence....trying to do everything they can to make him feel comfortable.....And trust me he wont be in a mavs uniform next year....he has been by far the worst maverick since Antonie Walker....
