08:18 AM ET 04.09 | After only on the job a short time, injury has forced converted running back Tre Madden to the sidelines. Although [Madden] had been a tailback for less than three weeks, USC coach Lane Kiffin said the sophomore was "probably one of the most valuable guys on our team." So when Madden went down Thursday with a season-ending knee injury, the Trojans suddenly had a big hole to fill. ... Kiffin said the final week of spring practice will be especially important for [redshirt freshman Tre Madden] because "we don't know very much about him." In addition to being out most of spring, Allen missed most of his first training camp last year while awaiting clearance from the NCAA Eligibility Center.

If you don't have a RB then you can't play "real (SEC) football" cuz you have to chunk it every play! You need to join the WAC.

I think they messed up this article some. Obviously Allen is the replacement for Madden and a redshirt freshman.

USC chances for BCS CG going down a little.

As long "C" does not stand for Cash, then go ahead.

unreadable and unintelligible article. who's Allen? and why is Madden both out with an injury and having the most important final week in spring training if he is out

No. 5 post is exactly right: the bracketed insert misidentifies who Kiffin is talking about. You should read "Buck Allen" for "Tre Madden" there.

PS Always read the original article. FN makes lot of mistakes - especially on Monday morning.

Luckily USC is not in the SEC. And with Barkley, and the top FEW recievers, they do pretty good "chunking" it every other play.

LOL, yeah especially when you mention ND's quarterbacks!!!!!

They'll still beat ND, but they will not be in any CG, BCS or 12 pac.

Wow, 2 birds w/ 1 stone!

It was a sarcastic comment directed at those that do not consider teams that chunk it as playing "real" football. I'm not one of them.

Good point, ask LSU about "chunking" the football on ANY play!!!
