More names leaving Kansas

As if the news of Aqib Talib's departure wasn't disheartening enough for Kansas fans, their day of loss was only beginning. On Monday afternoon, Nebraska announced the hiring of KU wide-receivers coach Tim Beck as its new running-backs coach. Then, The Star reported on its Web site that Anthony Collins would join Talib in entering the NFL draft.

I think Mangino had better get one of those thumb-stomachs PDQ.

I wonder if he's a surgical risk.

Report Offensive Comment

I heard he was considering getting one of the stomach bands...until he found out it was NOT the marching kind.

It takes time and more than a few up-and-down seasons to build a program. I grew up in Kansas and spent years watching the Big Red caravans of OU and NU cross the state for the big games with tune-ups against K-State and KU thrown in as an afterthought. But we did rise up in the late '70's when Nolan Cromwell and the 'Hawks knocked off the Sooners 23-3 in Norman.

I believe Mangino has the makings of a great long-term coach. We'll know he's got KU on the right track when the Big 10 and Pac 10 come calling so they can be competitive in the national title hunt. For right now, the KU fans will have to merely settle for being the only school with two major powers in the top ten in football and basketball.

He may have an eating disorder but I don't think that Mangino's best players are starting yet. I think he has a group of redhirts and true freshman that are going to make a big impact next year. I think that the balance of power has shifted away form Kansas St. and Nebraska and that the Big 12 North champion will be decided on the saturday after Thanksgiving fot quite a few years.

I have to agree with CybScryb, KU looked great last season and should be very good this year. I wouldn't worry about Beck leaving either. Man will find a good replacement. I wouldn't count on the words of 'tigerpower'. Nebraska suffered at the hands of an idiot and the huge change in the way we play ball. Not to expect our offense will change alot this year, but combined with even a decent defense, NU is sure to cause any school problems. Its nice to see the Big XII looking so strong, but Missouri and KU's days are only numbered. KU won't have that stellar season this year and Missouri will finally lose to them. I liked MU until this past season, the crying about the Cotton bowl is enough to make me sick. At least you went to a nice paying bowl game. Don't get used to it.
