Overhaul could leave Flames unrecognizable

08:24 AM ET 04.09 | Disappointment reigns again in Calgary, where golf season again will immediately follow the NHL's regular season. So what to do if you're Flames GM Jay Feaster? If I'm lacing up his shoes, nothing is off the table. Jarome Iginla would be shopped. The asking price fairly high. Draft picks are great, but the playoffs are still -- should always be -- the goal in any season, so an NHL-ready prospect has to be part of that package. Younger, hungrier. ... I'd listen to offers on Miikka Kiprusoff, but I'd have to be blown away to let the team's most valuable player this season to leave. ... For cap purposes, Jay Bouwmeester would also be on the block.

It's 'let's play the Gm' time in Calgary.

Here's one thing I never understand:"so an NHL-ready prospect has to be part of that package."Exactly what is the benefit to any team to acquiring an aging guy who can realistically help propel your team for a year or two max, as opposed to keeping a "NHL-ready prospect" who could easily turn into the aging superstar minus the aging part in that same time-frame? Has a trade like that ever actually been made by someone with half a brain?

So then we can look for Iginla to be part of the "Irk Squad" next season?

exactly, as much as I have always liked Iggy, the Flames always way over-valued him. He is no longer the player he was & will only serve to improve a team, he will not be its star & will not carry that team. They had PLENTY of chances in the past to move Iggy & get a great return, but they always refused. At this point I couldn't imagine ANYBODY giving up for Iggy what the franchise seems to think he is worth.

From what I read before Feaster isn't into developing talent so I don't think there will be too may guys ready to come up.

Maybe Rome (Georgia)? The may have to play out doors the first year. Ice might be a problem.

I hope they start to do something right though. Harry deserves a break.
