Sumlin blasts his Aggies 'pretenders'

08:19 AM ET 04.10 | So much for the Easter bunny. Kevin Sumlin gave his team the holiday weekend off after the first week of spring practices ended on Thursday. But, the end of his first week on the football fields at Texas A&M didn't end with eggs or gift baskets. Sumlin came off the field Thursday frustrated with some of his players, saying that some were all talk and didn't perform when it came time to hit the trenches in practice. "We've got some guys who are coming to the forefront, physical guys who like to play," Sumlin told the media Thursday. "And we've had some guys who are pretenders. That are not very tough. We've got to figure out a way to over the next couple of weeks develop some mental and physical toughness."

Cut the worst offenders and then, perhaps, the others will get the message....

IMO, Petrino survives this......I've changed my tune since yesterday. The police investigation was released and nothing damaging there. IMO, if they were going to terminate him, they would have done it yesterday. I don't see what they gain by waiting.
IF he goes, then Arky will throw money at a big name. Gruden or Pete Carroll would get $5 mill offers. Gundy at Okie Lite and Smart @ Louisville would be the college picks if SEC and new $40 million football facilites could get them to move.

I said he should be suspended for 3-4 games and have 1 million off of his salary and contract renogotiated. Then some sports reporter dude from Arkansas yesterday on the raidio said the EXACT SAME THING... well, almost. he said the salary for those 3-4 games which would be 900,000 but pretty damned close to what I was thinking.

Law suits will bever hit. They will negotiate settlements, have the other applicants sign Hold-Harmless agreements and confidentiality agreements. IMO, the $$ it takes to settle these will comoe out of BP's salary (at a multiple...2-3X what it takes to setle the matter) over the next couple of years and we'll go on.
I could be wrong....he may still get axed but the fact he's still here this AM makes me think he's gonna survivie it.
