Door opens for an Iginla deal

08:21 AM ET 04.10 | The days of Jarome Iginla's status as untouchable appear to be dwindling. The fans have spoken and so has [Iginla], making it clear two-thirds of the parties involved are at least starting to come to grips with the possibility of a trade. ... And while [Jay Feaster] and the ownership will have the biggest say in whether the Flames' retooling involves replacing their current captain, it's evident the door is opening for what was seemingly impossible just three months back when he scored No. 500. ... The 34-year-old said he'd prefer to stay in Calgary but doubted he'd be interested in sticking around for an Edmonton-like rebuild, reiterating he wants a chance to win.

I understand the attachment. He's larger than life in Calgary, in much the same way Sundin was in Toronto until things really got low here. But we couldn't trade him, and I really think in a way we're still paying for it. It seems Iggy wants to win before it's too late and Calgary's willing to start from scratch (finally). It's best for both.

So Iggy is going to be the recurring theme of the Hockey Threads. Oh well, sure beats people whining about the Penguins.

They'd be lucky. Iggy's a beast, even at 34. You don't want to build around him at that age but to throw onto an already-good team? Solid move as long as the price is right.

If only they would want Dubinsky

Jarome Iginla is still a player to be feared ... when he gets it going. Problem is that it's taking him a lot longer to get it going these days than it used to. He was close to invisible till Christmas ... again.

..... or worse, we could be reading Minnesota Wild and Columbus Blue Jackets threads! Or ... worse still ... we could be reading about His Irkness and the Leafs!

Lord have mercy!!!

Speaking of Burke, him and Carlisle just sat in front of the Toronto media and basically patted themselves on the back.

I literally just spend 45 minutes vomiting.

So .... why is it you feel you have to regurgitate such old news to us, T&R fans? Leafs fans have been doing it for decades! And, we're still having a hard time adjusting to it (the vomiting, I mean). ;-)

I'm sure Burke thinks he is doing a wonderful job and Carlysle blamed the players, because he certainly didn't spark them. Did i get the jist of the news conference

April 10, 2012  12:43 PM ET

Nope.

Here is the Jist...........

Berkie and Carlyle can face the media without repercussion from spewing venom and tossing ass pats to each other...

But when Don Cherry faces the media and offers up an opinion he gets the screws put to him....

Izzy would look great in a Ranger uniform ;)

I can't believe they weren't announcing the Irked One's resignation/firing.....but then, I'm not really that surprised either...

You do understand that they are two completely different situations don't you?

Oh no. Nonononono! Burke felt the need to let the world know, quote, "Ron Wilson and I were never on the same page in terms of how we wanted the team to play, the type of players we wanted."

AND IT TOOK YOU FOUR FREAKING YEARS TO FIGURE THAT OUT?!?!?! DO YOU EVEN HEAR HOW RIDICULOUS YOU SOUND WHEN YOU OPEN YOUR MOUTH?!?!
