08:28 AM ET 04.10 | Soon returning to the nation's capital, Tim Thomas had to be prepared to face this kind of shot. During his locker room media session at Ristuccia Memorial Arena in Wilmington [on Monday], Thomas was asked if he was concerned about playing in Washington due to any fallout from his infamous snub of the defending Stanley Cup Champions White House appearance with President Obama last January and subsequent statement he released on the federal government Reporter: "Given the setting, that's it's in D.C., is there any concern on your part about the White House stuff getting kicked up and all that stuff ..." Thomas: "Thanks guys, we finally got somebody to get me out early."

Wow. What a baby. Just say 'no' and answer more questions.

He warned the media some time ago. Don't ask about it.

I hope he maintains that stance in DC.

Couldn't care less, and I think regardless of what DC fans try the B's are over this, but the way he said this was in the most annoying voice I may have ever heard.

I don't think DC fans care about this either but if it gets under TT's skin, why not push the button??

I didn't mean they were offended or anything (nor should anyone be). I meant by them using this to their advantage (Obama chants? Obama masks? Sending Hillary Clinton to TT's room at 3 am in sexy lingerie?).

April 10, 2012  08:53 AM ET

Penalty! You used Hilary Clinton and sexy in the same sentence. Two minutes for hookering.

That's just offensive and downright mean, Danny.

He'll wish he was back in that Boston cab.

He made his own bed, now time to sleep in it.

........with Hillary.

TT is right. This is about playoff hockey....not the news media's infantile interest in causing controversy. I was born in Washington, lived there for the first 42 years of my life. Still go back to visit friends, family and attend hockey games! I've never visited the White House either. Don't plan to, ever. And Danny, send Hillary Clinton to visit Tim in "sexy" lingerie? That would be a felony in every country in the world. Disgusting.

However, if it gets Tim off his game, keep it up. Go Caps.

April 10, 2012  09:24 AM ET

See Timmy you started this, and the media has nothing better to do then keep it going. Good for them. If I was the Caps I would send a beat reporter in there every day asking about the Whitehouse stuff, I would start with asking his teammates, to annoy them, then go to Timmy so he can stomp his feet again and walk off.

April 10, 2012  09:25 AM ET

This was a big distraction for the club, but it will be interesting to see if it works the other way now if the media wants to focus on beating this dead horse and not scrutinize the players.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew. I'll take the Cab lady of Hillary any day....

April 10, 2012  09:28 AM ET

TT should have just said no and moved on. And you can't 'warn' the media. That only makes things worse for the person because now they know it's a soft spot.

Or if TT pulls a Patrick Roy.....????

Remember the interview with Roenick

Okay, the thing here is that this became an issue at THIS time because he pulled the girly-voice-walk-away. If he had just said "No. We're focused on winning and only winning.", the next question would've been about the colour of his pads and we'd be done. If only for our sanity.

April 10, 2012  09:34 AM ET

Are the games going to be played in the White House? If they aren't then what's the big deal. I agree with the comments though, if it gets under his skin, distracts him then that's what they want. I think it would be hilarious if all the fans showed up with Obama masks.

DL, the thought of Hilary in sexy lingerie at 3 in the morning made me lose my breakfast. I hope you're happy!
