08:18 AM ET 04.11 | The offseason was less than two days old and already, the question that wasn???t answered last summer was the first question of this summer: Will the Carolina Hurricanes finally get someone to play with Eric Staal? Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford said all the right things Monday: there will be money to pursue a high-profile free agent or trade target to play on Staal???s wing. The whispering campaign has been under way for a while that the Hurricanes are gathering together the funds to target New Jersey Devils free agent Zach Parise, but so will just about every other team in the league. It???ll take big bucks to play in that game. The Hurricanes claim they have them.

Get ready Nard - stiff competition for Parise's services. I'm not sure what's worse, Newark or Raleigh?

The correct answer is always Newark.
Raleigh isn't a bad city, pretty rural as cities go.

Never got why everybody rips up Newark. The team just plays there. The players can live anywhere in the area they want - including NYC. And sorry, but NYC>Tobacco Road.

They want that first pick in the worst way. Who are they going to give up? Cam Ward? Eric Staal? Jeff Skiner?

Same arguement could be made for the Isles dump.

Well, NJ does have one of the nicer arenas in the league (even if they don't have any police patrolling it nowadays...)

The problem Trenton and Camden have is their proximity to Philly. A lot of stuff just kind of floats across the Delaware.

Please don't use logic in discussing anything on this site. It goes against everything we stand for here. Let's go back to the stereotypical responses now please.

It's the need for Kevlar that keeps me out.
Raleigh is the best area of NC, I know, it's like being the tallest dwarf.

As an NYC resident, I say it all depends. There's something to be said for a quieter (except on race days) lifestyle. NYC is also loud, rude and severly over priced and way to full of itself. we have a mdget for a mayor that thinks he's an emperor. And seriously, what other city in the world has the temerity to constantly repeat that it's "The greatest city in the world", while people are sleeping on sidewalks?

I'd swear you were describing T.O instead of NYC if it weren't for the midget mayor (ours is blimp-sized).
