08:04 AM ET 04.11 | Slowly but surely, Lamar Odom's approach had worn thin in Dallas, but it was a final clash with the owner that sealed his fate. Mark Cuban's frustration level hit the breaking point Saturday in Memphis. It was a scene the owner described in vivid detail before Tuesday's game against Sacramento, when he called the exodus of Odom "addition by subtraction." Cuban said he was in the visitor's locker room at halftime Saturday and asked Odom, who had played four pitiful first-quarter minutes, a simple question: "Are you in or are you out?" "He said: 'Stop playing games,'" Cuban said. "I said, 'I guess you're out.'" ... "Did I get my money's worth? No. I don't know that the word's 'cheated.' But did I get my money's worth? No."

Did Odom get his money's worth?
I'd say so.
Good riddance...

Nobody hits on a business decision 100% of the time. Cuban can make up for this blunder in free agency.

I never understood that move in the first place for the Mavs. For the lakers I got it. Odom, just go back to LA where u are beloved... get your 6 man award again next year.

Cuban got rid of Tyson Chandler, Caron Butler, and J.J. Barea. The Mavs weren't going anywhere anyway; however in this case Cuban was right. I don't care how upset Odom was about being traded. With the money these guys make, he could have played in Dallas and still lived in LA. No excuse for giving less than 100% effort.

More I read from the Laker faithful... the less I buy that "beloved" thing...
Might have been more a case of Phil getting the most out of Odom than anything else.

Please! Explain how you plan for the future by not resigning the core of a championship team.

Simple...
Resigning all three would have placed the Mavericks in Salary Cap purgatory. As you noted in #10, Cuban made the correct decision.
He has the flexibility to make a splash this summer (DWill) while maintaining some level of cost sanity.
That's about as much planning "for the future" as he can do at this point. And the team is still competitive... particularly with the Black Cloud having been expunged.
This year is about getting to the tournament... roll the dice once you get there but GET THERE!!!
