Don't hold your breath on NFL in L.A.

08:02 AM ET 04.12 | The NFL in Los Angeles remains but a twinkle in the eyes of many. [Here] we are, six years later, and the NFL still isn't here. Oh, there are still stories filled with optimistic rhetoric. And competing stadium projects. And familiar news of a completed and critical Environmental Impact Report. Yet ... the NFL still isn't here. None of the usual suspects has so much as Googled "moving company NFL franchise." ... Unless you want to turn bluer than the Seattle Seahawks' new home uniforms, don't hold your breath. Until an NFL team actually announces it's relocating, don't believe what you read. Until actual shovels penetrate actual dirt, don't believe what you hear.

Until Anschutz is no longer in the picture... not a chance.

Nobody is moving to LA. If they did, the rest of the league couldn't threaten their cities with a move to LA. No new stadiums would be built with public financing ever again.

really??? zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

April 12, 2012  08:22 AM ET

Why should I care when no one in LA really seems to.

I think that's why the NFL keeps re-gurging this story. The threat (or prospect) is enough to keep the people in LA interested and Hollywood wants to have their own Dolphins where everyone owns a piece.

OK, I won't hold my breath...

Yeah but how many more cities need new barns right now? I can only think of the California teams.

Somebody will build a new stadium with some snazzy new gimmicks, like when the first owner came up with luxury suites, and everybody else will want to follow.

Exhale! whew! Thanks.
