Second opinion sends Aldridge to surgery

08:07 AM ET 04.13 | Portland announced Thursday that LaMarcus Aldridge will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his right hip to repair a labral tear, which will end his season. Aldridge's hip has been bothering him of late and on Tuesday, he along with team trainer Jay Jensen, flew to Vail, Colo. to visit Dr. Marc Phillipon who also performed surgery on Aldridge's left hip while he was at the University of Texas. ... Previously, the Trail Blazers performed an MRI on Aldridge's sore right hip and results came back negative. At the request of Aldridge, he wanted to see a specialist. "He had asked about having Dr. Phillipon look at his hip and we were totally supportive of it," [acting GM Chad Buchanan] said.
