Browns targeting Weeden, not Tannehill?

08:05 AM ET 04.13 | Perhaps the Browns are not as willing to surround Colt McCoy with offensive weapons as they are in keeping an open mind. Stanford's Andrew Luck and Baylor's Robert Griffin III are expected to be picked first and second overall on April 26, so some draft gurus believe the Browns will consider taking the third-best quarterback, Texas A&M's Ryan Tannehill, at No. 4. However, Pro Football Weekly analyst Nolan Nawrocki isn't buying it. Instead, Nawrocki believes the Browns are interested in nabbing Oklahoma State's Brandon Weeden with either their second pick of the first round (No. 22) or their early second-round selection (No. 37).

Yep. I don't believe that Colt is as bad as he's being made out to be. A decent (not great) line will determine his true talent.

Agreed. Joe Thomas can't play every position.

I do like Weeden better than Tannenhill. I just hope they don't have to go to the first round to get him. I also think the 1st is way to high to get a right tackle. Were talking the right not the left. You can get those beasts a little later.

Or something like it. With 2 of the top 22 picks you got to get some real value. QB my a## with what is left at those spots.

Yep. And Weeden is a pure pocket passer ... he can't run like Colt when the protection (LOL) breaks down.

It looks like the Browns have some opportunities to fix things via the draft, but not if they go wasting picks on QB's.

2 first rounders ...
I've seen mock drafts where it's J Blackmon and T Richardson ... which wouldn't be bad IF they had a plan to fix the line as well

Better off getting Kirk Cousins or Brock Osweiler in the second round instead of a former bust of a minor baseball pitcher. Guys who fail professionally at one sport usually don't do anything in another, plus those guys are younger. Weeden is overrated just like Griffin is in going number 2 in the draft is because they played in gimmick offenses in the no-defense conference: The Big 12.

Thankfully professional teams use game film to evaluate players ... not some regional conference bias dumbassery.

LT is most important for a RH QB which McCoy is, but if they aren't sold on McCoy and were to choose a lefty QB, the RT would be FAR more important....

This would be a good move by the Browns. Weeden is flat out better than Tannehill right now. Weeden could compete with McCoy right now. You throw Tannehill out there your looking at Blaine Gabbert 2.0, a talented guy thats nowhere near ready to start. Plus they can probably get Weeden in the 2nd round and if neither he nor McCoy pans out next season there are potentially 4 1st rd QBs for next year (Barkley, Jones, Wilson, Bray) all of whom are much much much much better than Tannehill.

It is just amazing to me how far teams will reach to grab a QB.
Does anyone really believe that either Tannehill OR Weeden are First Round QB material?
