08:14 AM ET 04.13 | Matt Garza's nine-K performance helped salvage a 2-5 homestand in Chicago. But for anybody who believes the fortunes and inevitable misfortunes in the first season under Theo Epstein and Jed Hoyer will have any bearing on the Cubs' intentions with Garza, Epstein offered a one-word answer: "No." It's unclear how far the Cubs and Garza, 28, have progressed in talks on a multiyear contract. But Garza's agent, Nez Balelo, was scheduled to be in town during the homestand. Garza will make $9.5 million this season and is arbitration-eligible for one more year. ... [Said Epstein:] "Some issues are best examined up close, from 10 feet away, and some are best examined from 10,000 feet away. That's probably one that falls in the latter."

seven games into the season folks, I do believe the 'season is over, let's trade Garza' talk is a bit premature.

They need to sign him long term. They gave up a bunch to acquire him from the worst minor league system in MLB. This trade talk is just crazy, thankfully that dope Hendry didn't do it before they bagged him.
This is your #1 starter, and a good one it would be foolish to give that away. So I fully expect Theo to do just that. :(

Tigers need him...the rotation behind Verlander is tooo unreliable, especially with Fister out. Big year for Porcello and Scherzer, at least Porcello started the season well...Scherzer though got bombed. They'll probably mash their way to 95 wins, but that won't work in the playoffs.

I thought he'd be a good fit for the Yankees. Even before the injury to Pineda, I'd prefer Garza over Pineda.

So why is Theo reluctant to ink this guy? I watched Garza a lot when he was in the east and even thought the Yanks would make a play for him before he went to Chicago.
Is it just money or are there some sort of ugly rumors following Garza around?
