08:19 AM ET 04.13 | Text messages reportedly attributed to Bobby Petrino kept the former Arkansas coach in contact with the program. [Petrino] was texting other athletic department employees inquiring about his job status while on administrative leave. ... Petrino was placed on leave April 5, and a day later sent a text to associate AD Chris Wyrick inquiring about his job status. "... Is the mood to fire me or to keep me???" Petrino texted the evening of April 6, according to documents obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request. Wyrick's response, presumably talking about Athletic Director Jeff Long: "I can't honestly speak to his pulse on that, but my gut is he wants it to work. You have done the job and most feel like you are due a mulligan."

Come on now.....is this news? First of all, anyone in this situation is going to be curious and reaching out to friends in the work place to see if the concnesus is to keep you or fire you. As for the assistant coaches and staff....sure they want him to get a second chance. When a HC goes, usually all of those $200k - $500k assistants end up unemployed as well. They don't want to uproot their families and face unemployment.

LOTS of juicy bits of this story to chew on, but this isn't one of them.

Petrino doesn't look like he's in any shape to play golf right now.

That is who got hurt the worst. They may not even field a team this year, you reckon?

Chick's fiance' and the football players at my school got it the worst.

And we will field a team...we got 86 pissed off football players that can't wait to hit someone

You can have 85 on scholarship and I think up to 125 adding walkons.

No one has over 85 scholarship players or the NCAA would be all over them, so I wouldn't worry that you're breaking any rules that all teams follow.

It's however many you want it to be. 85 is just a suggestion per the NCAA since it has no juevos.
