Isleworth already loves Bubba more than Tiger

07:56 AM ET 04.14 | Got an interesting phone call from an long-time resident of Isleworth earlier this week who was rejoicing that new Isleworth resident Bubba Watson had won the Masters. He said residents inside the gates of the exclusive Orlando community have already embraced Bubba much more than they ever did Tiger Woods. And vice versa. Why? For the same reasons I have previously written about in this space: Because Tiger lived in Orlando for 16 years and never once gave back anything tangible to this community. We were nothing more than an address to Tiger, who has opened up learning centers and continues to hold big-time charitable events in many other cities across the country. He did nothing for Orlando even though he lived here for nearly half of his life. It seems the residents in Isleworth felt a similar disconnect with Tiger, especially when they compare him to Bubba. Even though Bubba has been renting in Isleworth for only a couple of months, he's made friends, greeted neighbors and become a willing part of the neighborhood.

It's not hard to see that Bubba is a likable fellow and Tiger is an arrogant prick. When is the last time you saw a group of players come to the 18th green to congratulate Tiger on a win?

There's no reason not to root for a guy like Bubba. He taught himself how to play the game, has never taken a lesson, and is not afraid to make shots that most golfers would shy away from.

I like the guy and I hope he wins more majors. The game needs a new star, not another guy who has a dark side. Sure hope Bubba doesn't have a dark side. I'm done with Tiger and that's sad to say given how much he's brought to the game. But recently, he's taken away much more.

Agree with all posters so far. I don't have anything to say about that other guy. I've made many comments in the past about "he-who-shall-not-be-named" but enough is enough. Bubba on the other hand whether he wins one more tournament, none, or a hundred is a class guy......likeable, friendly and easy to root for. If you've seen his you tube video it says all that needs to said about the difference between him, and that, er,other guy.

Ok, so Tiger's a jerk and nobody likes him. I get that. I don't think much of him as a person but I do like to watch him play golf. I really like watching Bubba because he's so unique in his approach to the game. That being said, why would Tiger owe something to the city of Orlando just because he lives there? They don't get enough dough from their tourist sites? The article sounds like Orlando is insulted because Tiger didn't donate a library or museum.

Woods isn't liked by ANY of the players on tour, with the exception of Arjun Atwal. It's only the media that likes him. Actually, I don't think they care for him either but, they are so simple-minded that they can't think of who or what else to write about. Have you ever seen a more silly bunch of adorers than the SI writers?

tiger is never going to meet neighbors, make friends or become part of a community..... it's not his personality. he is obviously a very private person. and as one of the worlds most famous athletes, it's a little understanding. not that i'm defending him or his actions.... i'd be the last person to do that. but there have been many private famous people that still were liked and made contributions. woods just must be a very selfish individual person..... and his past actions are probably haunting him and his game.

It was an interesting week of golf viewing for sure. The Thursday before i loved watching my taped episode of Feherty and Bubba rolling around in his Dukes mobile , then there he is winning the green jacket on Sunday.
