08:32 AM ET 04.14 | On the same day that Notre Dame defensive end Aaron Lynch announced he would be transferring from the Irish - and potentially landing at USF - it appears the Irish will be down one more defender in 2012. Both Kansas and Notre Dame announced that linebacker Anthony McDonald will leave the Irish after graduating this spring and join former coach Charlie Weis at Kansas. Since McDonald will be receiving his undergraduate degree, he will be eligible to play for the Jayhawks in 2012.

So is Lynch going to Florida State or South Florida?

And why would he be going to South Florida????

Brian Kelly is an idiot egomaniac. Lynch was an excellent player, would have been a difference maker at DE this year, and now Kelly's got ???? He could have kept him if he made the effort. Not Brian. You don't like him, he doesn't like you. Irish faithful, you've got a baby at the wheel.

Heard that Kelly wouldn't release to FSU, UF or Miami. It's conditional on the school he wants. UCF and USF appear to be the FBS schools in Florida that on the approved list.

I am very interested in seeing how coach Weis and his 5 star QB Dayne Crist perform in the Big-12.
My guess is after three or four mediocre seasons with the Jays, Charlie will end up heading back to the pro's.
Sorry Charlie.

I was serious...didn't know that the original school could limit which other school the transferring player to approach.

And my wife says I am FULL of useless information.... :)

I'm bummed about Lynch transferring. He played very well for us. I hope the kid finds the right fit and is successful. He very well could be an NFL player in the future. I wish Lynch and McDonald well at their new destinations.

However, Irish are still going to have a great season! Go Irish!
