Sink or swim season for Romo in Dallas?

11:14 AM ET 04.15 | The Dallas Cowboys have one playoff win in 15 seasons. That points to organizational problems beyond the starting quarterback. With that said, we wouldn't be surprised to see Dallas go in another direction under center if Tony Romo fails to deliver a playoff season in 2012. It wouldn't be entirely fair, because Romo is a producer. His knack for big-moment gaffs haunts the team, but when he broke his collarbone in 2010, the Cowboys were lost at sea.

Romo needs a decent OL in front of him.

They have no QB in the development pipeline. McGee is not starter material, and Orton is Orton. Maybe if they completely tanked they could draft Matt Barkley and start over, but this is a very stupid article based on a catch-phrase premise.

Should make Steeler fans appreciate Big Ben, who seems to always get his team into the playoffs despite the O-Line that he has.

Romo needs a defense. Offense put up the numbers ...

I'm not sure Romo is the problem. He's a serviceable quarterback and can make some solid plays. I think their defense, particularly their secondary, needs work. Can't blame inability to stop people on the QB.

Not much going on with the NFofL, is there?

He has the highly publicized history of making bonehead plays at the end of games.
But I've always felt that quarterbacks are less inclined to take those risks when they can trust their defense to close out. So I'd have to agree with you.

I'm a bit surprised by how much support he's receiving. You can't play well for most of the game and choke in the clutch on a regular basis and be successful. This would be the perfect fit for that backup with the Jets. Let Romo play the first three quarters and then that other guy can come in and wrap things up as only he can (says Urban Meyer).

They have said this for six years now. There is no other option on the horizon. He is it.
He is good enough if everything else goes right, if it does not, then he is not good enough to carry the team himself. That is what separates him from the few who can and have.

If he sinks, then the OC ( and I include Garrettm he was questionable as an OC and has been as a HC ) should sink too. Romo has had help from above to have some of the stuff happen to him that has.

The buck stops at Jerry Jones. What GM of a historic franchise could go so many years with this level of ineptitude and still have kept his job? Man needs to drop his ego and hire a true professional. It isn't working, time to try something different.

If they draft Cousins or Weeden in the 2nd round .... then the media can roll out the "QB controversy" boiler plate templates.

That ego is too big to admit he's in over his head.

I agree with your assessment of Garrett. What coach ices his own kicker? Jim "The Statue" Caldwell is available if they want him.

The problem is just as tsnell said, Jerry Jones. Bring back the days of Jimmie J and how it was run then. Then success will be had!!
