Packers looking hard at late-round QBs

07:58 AM ET 04.16 | Not since loading up on two QBs in 2008 have the Packers gone with an arm in the draft. It's a good bet they end that streak this year. They're looking for a developmental player to compete for the backup job to Aaron Rodgers, so chances also are strong they won't be looking at taking a quarterback until at least the fourth round and possibly not until the fifth round or later. That probably removes six quarterbacks who figure to go higher than that: Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan Tannehill, Brandon Weeden, Kirk Cousins and Brock Osweiler. ... Arizona's Nick Foles: Great size (6-5, 243) and good arm strength but doesn't play fast. The NFL puts a premium on quick decisions and then quick reactions to execute those decisions.

Is Wilson out of Wisconsin that bad? Seems he may serve as a fair project.

OK, but half the teams in the NFL take a late round flyer on a developmental QB. I want a story on the teams that do not and why.

They had a good back-up in Flynn and let him leave.

Doesn't really matter, 'cause Rodgers is gonna play every snap.

Poor Kellen Moore-the winningest QB in the history of the NCAA and he gets no respect, maybe he is the late round QB pick Green Bay is looking at.

He gets no respect because of size, speed of foot, and arm strength. If you could combine Kellen Moore with Brock Osweiler or Chandler Harnish, you'd have something. As it is, size, speed, and arm strength are big problems for Moore. Can't see him taking one big hit in the NFL, let alone many. Can't actually see him doing anything but running for his life. (BTW, Moore might be the winningest QB in NCAA history, but that's because of the entire team, not just him. I think Case Keenum produced more in 2011 by himself than Moore.) MAybe the Packers should look at Harnish in the mid to later rounds.

Oldtimer: Note that the Packers did not have Flynn's salary demands or market value in its budget. Flynn is going to Seattle to be the starter. He gets starter money there. Green Bay cannot pay two QBs starter money. They did not "let him leave". Please be a bit more realistic with your comments.
