Mavs haunted by looming exodus

08:05 AM ET 04.16 | What a difference a year makes for the Mavs. Dallas officials didn't re-sign starting center Tyson Chandler, starting guard DeShawn Stevenson and reserve guard J.J. Barea in the offseason, allowing the franchise to maintain financial flexibility for this summer. ... Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Delonte West, Kelenna Azubuike, Vince Carter, Brandan Wright, Yi Jianlian, Brian Cardinal and Ian Mahinmi could all become free agents for the Mavericks this summer. Terry said the uncertain future has weighed on the players. "I go out there every day with that on my mind," Terry said. "It's reality. I could possibly not be in this uniform next year. It affects a lot of us. ... It's tough."

Mark Cuban got his championship, and seems to have forgotten how he won it. He may remember what it takes while fishing next month instead of trying to repeat.

QUOTE(#1):

Mavs may be done......

Just need to avoid the Lakers in the first round.

They don't have an answer for Bynum when he is playing at this level.

I would also note that they didn't have an answer for Bynum last year when he is playing like this either. Few teams do.

I think he wants to win again, he just played his hand wrong this year. Trying to clear cap room for max free agents while thinking his off season moves would provide as a stop gap solution for this year. He also could not have predicted spineless L.O. folding up his diaper and going home either..that would have helped a lot had he been an actual professional and played ball this season

Odom wasn't going to replace Chandler and Stevenson. One mistake turns a 3 year plan into a 5 year plan. Dirk isn't going to be around that long. He could have tweaked this team and continued to compete. He forgot where he came from and how long it took to get to the mountain top.

QUOTE(#19):

Wow! I never thought I'd see the day where you and I are in such complete agreement. Maybe it started when I finally came to grips with the fact that the Knicks suck.

I can be objective. Truth is that I don't really hate the Bricks. I just see that their approach leaves something to be desired. Woodson should help.
