Valentine already losing Sox clubhouse?

08:14 AM ET 04.17 | Two weeks in April does not a season make, but there's already a dose of turmoil in Boston. Nine games into the season, and Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine already has taken his first steps toward losing the clubhouse. That didn't take long. ... Could Valentine's motives have been more insidious? Does he believe [Kevin Youkilis] is the source who told Schilling that Valentine's having trouble in the clubhouse? Does he secretly want prospect Will Middlebrooks in the big leagues? Was he just bored? Crazy theories, to be sure. But nothing can be discounted when it comes to Valentine, who arrived as a lightning rod by reputation alone, but is now living up to it.

Not so much

Nobody in their right mind who follows the Red Sox would ever accuse Youk of being a slacker.

An odd piece of opinion-making, considering there are no sources, no clear evidence on the field, etc. They've got injuries. They've lost a few games. There are 152 games left to go. It is pretty silly to damn the man on a sample size like this.

I still can't figure out why the Sox hired Bobby V. in the first place.

Well, that didn't take long. I wonder if......

Oh, wait a sec....

TOMASE WROTE THIS.

Never mind, nothing to see here, let's all just move along.

Tomase was the loser who had to do the mea culpa after reporting the Pats taped the Rams walk-thru and it turned out to be nothing but a lie.

Why the herald still employs him is way beyond me.

Reading Valentine's entire comment it doesn't come off nearly as bad as the out of context part the media is reporting, but there always has to be something of this nature.

Going to be a long season for the Sox. It was already a long spring training with Bobby starting early on.
