Cap apologizes to Marchand (but not the one you think)

08:27 AM ET 04.17 | Players don't often apologize this time of year for their behavior on the ice, but Brad Marchand, while walking to the team bus after Monday's win, was approached by a member of the Capitals, who reportedly said, "Sorry, man. You know I'm not like that." One would have assumed the player waiting for Marchand was forward Jason Chimera. ... During a scrum in front of the Bruins' net early in the third period, Chimera clearly struck Marchand in the groin area with his stick, sending Marchand to the ice in pain. He was attended to by team trainer Don DelNegro. Chimera was given a two-minute penalty for slashing. But Marchand was approached by defenseman Karl Alzner, who caught Marchand with an elbow to the head during the game.

I'll bet after last night Danny no longer thinks that the B's/Cap's series is the most boring.

Game 4 outta be interesting with the match penalty to Backstrom. I don't think it gets rescinded because the NHL appears to be losing control of the games and for the office to override the on ice officials it would send the message that the on ice officials really aren't in control, at all.

Well the Bruins got to the front of the net ALOT more last night and it paid off. Now, if Lucic and Marchand can just keep their composure and not retaliate to what is an obvious attempt to instigate those two by the Caps, the Bruins should be able to help us all not have to look at Ovechkin's mug for a while.

Any further questions about Boston????

B's are back!

The Caps are making a mistake in waking a sleeping bear.

During Coaches Corner, Cherry actually lauded the Caps for not "poking the bear". Now they've started doing it, and Washington already has a match penalty to show for it.

The whole wiping of the eyes taunt by one of the Cap players last night will get answered. I believe that Thornton will take care of that.

If I heard correctly, I think the NBC team actually metioned that Marchand and Alzner were teammates for Team Canada at World Juniors, so that apology is really not much of a surprise.

"Cap apologizes to Marchand..."

What? Apologize to Brad Marchand? Are you kidding me?

That, right there, is a perfect example of what's wrong with this Capitals team!

I'm sure coach Hunter must be thrilled!

Damn, I fell asleep during this game. Sounds like I missed a lot!

Never had any doubts they'd come out of hibernation in time for the playoffs.

They're still the team to beat on the way to the SC.

Exactly, plus from what I saw, Marchand spends half the game falling to the ice (here comes the Bruins fans screaming), maybe picked up a few things from the sister in last years final?

azner can apologize all he wants to marshmond but he will catch a beat down and well see whos crying then...

Hmm, if Philly beats Pens, Boston beats Caps, Rangers beat Sens and Devils beat Panthers. It may look like Bryzgalov might have to deal with that fear of bears.

There are a lot of ifs in that and Pitt already tried the bears thing and to be honest they were a lot scarier then any thing coming out of Boston...except the women maybe.

I will give you that Marchand was flopping a bit last night, but after the theatrics the Caps were displaying (and getting penalties called on), I guess Brad was trying to even things up.

Granted, Marchand failed miserably at it a few times, but a two minute penaly for a stick to the nards seems a little light, maybe a double minor, throw on an unsportsmanlike?

High stick to Chara's head completely missed.....how do you miss a stick up THAT high?

Double minor to Lucic and nothing to Caps in scrum at end of third? How does that happen, even when the Caps had a third man in jumping on Lucic's back?

The Pens are scarier physically than the Bruins? What teams are you watching?

"Sorry, man. You know I'm not like that. Also, please ask Looch not to hurt me too much after I waited until he was engaged with two of my teammates AND a linesman before I jumped him from behind - then taunted him while 5 or 6 people were in between us and there was no chance he'd get to me."
