08:04 AM ET 04.18 | Jerry Buss may still be the boss, but Jim Buss has been a more prominent figure over the years, and, in a recent interview, was asked how involved he was in "making sure" the Lakers picked Andrew Bynum. "How involved? Extremely involved. It was not that I was pressuring to change peoples' minds, it was there were other options that we could have done, and I was the one -- basically Mitch [Kupchak] and I got on board together on this, and then we convinced everybody that Bynum is the guy. Where the convincing part came was not picking him. The convincing part was to basically tell him to stop his workouts. That's where you basically are guaranteeing that you're taking him."

Truth to be told since Jim Buss has been talking to the media in the last couple of months he does seem like a guy who has his priorities straight.
Bynum and Sessions were good moves as well as getting rid of Odom. Now let's see how MB does.

Getting a franchise Big Man is always the best choice. It just takes them a while for them to get their game. Its deff a long term investment.

Yeah......so long as his maturity level gets above that of an eight year-old.

A few Trail Blazar fans should suggest that picking the high scoring guard/forward is a better choice than taking the Big Man.

Some decisions are made to pay off.

Why is it that the majority of the NBA threads today are all about things done in the past....?

They haven't had high picks... compared to Bobcats I think they've done a better job. Some of their picks like Turiaf are still in the league..
