08:13 AM ET 04.18 | Wisconsin forward Jarrod Uthoff would like to transfer to another school, but head coach Bo Ryan isn't making things easy. Uthoff, a 6-foot-8 forward, announced last week that he would look for a new school after redshirting as a freshman at Wisconsin this past season. He said he liked Wisconsin but didn't feel the offense fit his game. Ryan didn't seem to take the news well, restricting Uthoff from talking with teams in the Big Ten, Marquette and Iowa State. Uthoff told Metro Sports Report on Monday night in his hometown of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, that Ryan has added all of the Atlantic Coast Conference to the banned list. That brought the total to 25 schools unable to contact Uthoff.

This is what CBB has become: freshman saying things like "the offense doesn't fit my game"

All true, but when will coaches learn that not giving a reasonable release will just make em look like petty morons.
I can understand biggest rival and 1-2 conference schools. Anything more than that will always look vindictive.

I won't question the kid's motives for a transfer. He may not like Madison. He could be homesick. It could be a myriad of reasons, including not wanting to play in the UW offensive system. If he's unhappy, he has the right to request a transfer.
I think it is sad that grown men act like petty kids by severely limiting a kid's options when transferring. I understand removing other B1G schools as an option, but the entire ACC and Iowa St.? Are you telling the kid that he can't go home by removing Iowa St? What in the heck does the ACC have to do with anything? That is some petty bullcrap. This is almost as bad as the kid that St. Joe's wouldn't release to UAB. The NCAA really needs to take a look at its business model.

He doesn't like the offense? How can that be? He knew what it was going to be coming in to Wisconsin...its not like Bo has changed what the Badgers are doing for the past 15 years.....This kid sounds like he isn't getting the spotlight and now wants to take his ball and go home.... I have no problem with what Bo did....might teach this kid a lesson about making big life decisions (like agreeing to a scholarship from a school)...

Spoken like a true homer. I'm not disputing why the kid is leaving. I still think coaches/colleges need to take the high road on this situation, unless there is some inside info that we don't know about. However, there is no reason to limit this kid from going anywhere other than the B1G. I personally say good riddance and be gone if you don't want to be here. Why would you potentially infuriate a malcontent and risk having some dirty laundry aired that could hurt future recruiting?

By the way, welcome to FN. We hope that your homerism is as strong as a Bama's, Domer's, or 'Horn's. We hope that you will embrace the rumor portion of the program as you do the truth portion :)

I agree with what you are saying about why would we want a kid on the team that is acting this way but I also think a lot of these athletes think they can make choices and take actions without consequences/penalties. I say welcome to real life where just because you can handle a ball, club, racket, better than most does not mean the world which is filled with rules, regulations, and yes a lot of unfairness will always allow you to do what you want, bend to your wishes and desires.... just my opinion. - and yes I can take the humor/hits/feedback. No prob.

Actually, Bo Ryan has no grounds to restrict any transfer from any team. He begged the Big Ten two years ago to allow a transfer who signed a letter of intent at Iowa to attend Wisconsin and not sit out any time. He also got the rule waived to allow him to be on scholarship, which is forbidden in Big Ten Interconference transfers.
Bo Ryan is a hypocrite.
